Running a local weather site isn’t quite as simple as sticking your head out the window and writing “it’s raining”, although I’ve done that a few times, to be fair.

Over the years, Durham UK Weather has grown into something a bit bigger than I ever imagined. It’s gone from a quiet little corner of the internet into a well-thumbed resource for weather watchers, teachers, local history buffs, and anyone who just wants to know if their dog walk is going to end in a soaking.

Keeping the site going takes time, tools, and more than a few cups of tea. There are hosting fees, domain renewals, plugin licenses and weather station repairs to pay for (especially when the wind has other ideas), and hours spent writing up reports, analysing data, and digging into the archives.
