Prolonged heavy rain fell for 9-12 hours across South East England and East Anglia on the 23rd, with over 100mm in North East Kent and South West Essex; Dartford recorded 112mm. The night of 25th/26th was very wet in central London, and floodwaters entered several newspaper printing halls in Fleet Street, resulting in the non-appearance of several Sunday papers.
